Tracy Makin – Nursery Manager
My name is Tracy Makin, I trained on the NNEB and qualified level 3 in 1992. My first post was for 13 years as a nanny for a family looking after their daughter and four sons until their youngest child grew up to go to secondary school. I left this position in August 2006. I am committed to supporting the children, their families and the staff teams to ensure we deliver high quality early years practice, providing each child with the best possible start.
During this time I studied and gained a pass in Maths GCSE and Teaching Assistant Level 1 and 2. I went to work at a day nursery in Manchester in September 2006 and started as a Nursery Nurse.
Within the year I was promoted to Deputy Manager and my role included staffing the nursery and running in the managers absence, Health and Safety officer, SENCO, attending managers meetings, compiling reports about all staff and the events within the nursery, running staff meetings, holding staff appraisals and much more.
I undertook further study completing a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies and graduated in 2012. I applied for the position of Tiddlywinks Day Nursery Area Manager in November 2012 in which I was successful and started in this post on 2nd January 2013. I then became nursery manager at Clayton in September 2015, and I am really enjoying my time here getting to know the new children and parents.
