Outdoor Play at Blackley
There is a large outside play area where the children can play group games, run, climb, take part in creative activities, investigate and explore their environment.
The children enjoy the benefits of our large outdoor play area which they access every day come rain or shine. When outdoors the children can ride bikes, develop their gross motor skills on the climbing frames, dig for worms and minibeasts in our nature area or sit and read a book in the pagoda.
Each week the children take part in a fun filled fitness programme with our qualified sports instructor. This helps them develop their gross motor skills, spacial awareness and learn excercise can be fun.
We have implemented a marvellous “Mud Kitchen” in the sensory and planting area of the garden, this is where the children can explore the mud and soil using a variety of utentils, pots and pans. Using their imagination to reinact and role model whilst exploring their wonderful “Mud Kitchen”.
The children have taken a keen interest in planting and have tyres around the garden with different plants and herbs. We have also planted Lettuce, strawberries and tomatoes. The children enjoy looking after them and watering them when needed. In Spring 2015 we will be planting many herbs and vegetables for the children to use during baking activities and for their meals at nursery.
