Tiddlywinks Day Nursery on Hill Lane in Blackley, was originally an old farmhouse. This has now been converted into a 62 place nursery that has been established for nearly 25 years as a family run business. We are open from 7.30 am – 6 pm, for children who are aged from 4 months to 5 years.
Tiddlywinks Day Nursery has a homely feel; it is a warm, safe and stimulating environment in which children explore, learn and develop. In 2014, we completed the developments for our nursery, this has included and extension to accommodate an additional 16 children in our pre-school room. The overall nursery capacity has increased to 62 from the original 46 and 16 when the nursery first opened in September 1994 many many years ago.
Our nursery garden is an amazing play environment for our children which includes a new safety surface, pagoda, astroturf area, a marvelous mud kitchen and several planters where we will be growing our own herbs, vegetables and flowers. Ofsted wrote “Children thrive emotionally, mentally and physically in the warm, stimulating environment where expectations are high. Children are at the heart of everything they do”.
We cater for children who are entitled to the Free 15 hours funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and have also implemented the 30 hours childcare government funding in September 2017. Our resources are high quality and reflect the children’s development stages, with this the children learn new skills and interests that help them progress in life and through the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Tiddlywinks believe that parents are their child’s first educators and we work in partnership with parents/carers so their child has the best possible start in life. Each month we email parents and carers a newsletter to make them aware of upcoming events, children’s interests and the policy of the month which we ask for feedback on, taking in to consideration all comments and suggestions made.
Ofsted wrote “The leadership and management team are inspirational, There are clear established roles and responsibilities together with enthusiasm, passion and high expectations”.
We are very proud of the ” Outstanding “ award that Ofsted awarded to us in May 2014 and we strive each day as a team to be Outstanding and give the best care possible to the children and parents who attend our nursery.
Ofsted wrote “There is a highly effective and nurturing key person system, they quickly respond to the children’s individual needs”.
